Atlas Van Lines Sets Company Record in Donating $105,000 to United Way through Pacesetter Campaign
Evansville, IN (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- One of the nation’s leading moving companies, Atlas Van Lines, is celebrating its record-setting donation of $105,000 to United Way of Southwestern Indiana’s 2013 Pacesetter Campaign. This is Atlas’ third consecutive year as a United Way Pacesetter, with the donation resulting from company-wide support and fundraising efforts for the philanthropic organization.
Each year, a select group of high-performance businesses take on the challenge to jump start United Way’s annual campaign by becoming a Pacesetter. These organizations set the standard for leadership and community support by locking in their increased campaign donations during the summer months. The success and excitement generated by the activities of United Way’s Pacesetters help to inspire other organizations to follow their lead when running their own campaigns. Once again, Evansville-based Atlas Van Lines was highlighted as a local leader to participate in the 2013 Campaign benefiting United Way of Southwestern Indiana.
“Since the company’s inception, giving back has remained an integral component of our corporate mission,” said Glen Dunkerson, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “The generosity and dedication exhibited by our employees is nothing short of admirable and solidifies the pride I’ve always had in this organization. While participating in our fundraising events, I couldn’t have been happier than to be alongside my colleagues as we worked to help those less fortunate.”
Atlas’ most recent donation exceeds the company’s 2012 Pacesetter Campaign results by nearly $5,000 and includes a corporate gift of $28,730.45 as well as $72,269.55 fundraised by employees. To provide such a generous gift, the company organized an assortment of company-wide activities throughout the month of August. Examples include paid dress-down days, the second annual “Smoking for United Way” ribs sale, an executive-operated car wash, and office music and trivia day.
Not only is United Way the largest philanthropic focus of Atlas Van Lines, but the company’s efforts extend directly into the organization’s leadership. Currently, Dunkerson serves as the chair of the area-wide campaign for the United Way of Southwestern Indiana and Marian Weilert Sauvey, general counsel, senior vice president and secretary of Atlas, is an active member of the United Way of Southwestern Indiana's Board of Directors and is treasurer of the organization.
