PRS Guitars' New "S2" Mid-Priced Guitars Draws Attention of Popular Recording and Touring Bands
Stevensville, MD (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- In July of this year, US Manufacturer, Paul Reed Smith Guitars unveiled a new line of electric guitars called the "S2 Series." Considered one of the most significant product launches in the company’s history, S2 Series instruments – the S2 Starla, S2 Mira, and S2 Custom 24 - offer the fit, the feel and the attention to detail known from the craftsmen of PRS in a more accessible price point.
This new series has drawn the attention of guitarists and guitar collectors across the globe and has produced 4-5 months of advanced orders that PRS craftsmen are rallying to fulfill. Several bands have taken notice of the S2 models and have jumped onboard the PRS stage. On the list of new S2 guitarists are Experience PRS headliner, JJ Grey, MoneyPenny’s Stephen Holmes and Issac Ellsworth and Blameshift’s Tim Barbour:
• JJ Grey has, over the course of six albums and a decade of touring which has taken him around the world and back again, adopted the new PRS S2 Starla as his main axe. After trying the guitar at a club in Wilmington, DE this past spring, JJ commented, "This guitar has already changed the way I play. The sounds you can get out of it are incredible. Right out of the box at the house the Starla’s were a blast. Even without an amp they’re really loud and very easy to play. Probably one of the greatest things about these guitars is that they refuse to go out of tune which is huge. Staying in tune is such a big deal for me and having total confidence in a guitar is like having total confidence in the people you play with onstage. I can’t say enough about these guitars."
• Stephen Holmes heads up the guitar duties in the Pop-Punk sensation MoneyPenny. MoneyPenny has toured worldwide and recently signed with Australian label Wisemove Records. At SXSW where MoneyPenny was showcased on six different stages, Steve and frontman Issac Ellsworth rocked the crowds with S2 Miras. "I love my Mira, it's simple, yet elegant, great tone and it's the most comfortable I've felt with any guitar on stage and off. Period!" said Stephen Holmes. Issac Ellsworth chimed in, "The playability, the style, the tone, the way it feels, the way it looks, everything – there is nothing that I’ve seen that matches it."
• Blameshift, a four-piece rock band from Long Island, NY has been extensively touring since 2005 (220 dates alone in 2012) throughout the US and Canada, including dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and is known for their high-energy live show. Tim Barbour, guitarist for Blameshift plays a PRS S2 Custom 24 in Antique White and offers the following comment: "I've been playing the hell out of PRS Guitars on the road, in and out of 100 degree trailers and have been covering them in sweat almost every night of the last few years. Somehow, they always stay in tune and still play like they are brand new. This new line of guitars is something every player should be excited about and is nothing short of awesome."
Developed over many years utilizing new manufacturing techniques with practiced quality control and workmanship, the PRS S2 Series guitars are offered at a new mid-price point for players: The S2 Mira ($1,179), the S2 Starla ($1,249) and the S2 Custom 24 ($1,399). The guitars have been road tested in a diverse group of genres ranging from Indie to Rock to Punk and Country.
This significant investment from PRS is the continuation of a long-term plan to diversify the company and its offerings both vertically and horizontally and to supply more artists and players with tools to create music. With their retro-inspired vibe, hallmark PRS quality, and popular pricetag, the S2 Series is perhaps the strongest example of this yet from PRS.
