Easy Relocation offer a Guideline to Pet Owners Looking to Rent in London and the UK
London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 27 September 2013 -- There are growing number of tenants with pets looking to take up tenancies in London. This is partly due to the more relaxed UK quarantine laws in 2012, and many first time buyers are now remaining in the rental market for longer periods of time as the result of rising property prices.
'Although landlords are progressively becoming more pet considerate, the pet owners would still have to take legal and financial responsibility for keeping a pet at a rental property'. said Rozi the founder at Easy Relocation.
It is not unusual for the type and size of a pet to be influential in the outcome of an offer placed on a property. Generally the smaller the pets, such as the teacup dogs, the more chance of acceptance by the landlords.
'Unfortunately the issues of damage to property, lingering pet odours , and shedding are at the forefront of any landlords worries when it comes to tenants and pets. Therefore, extra measures may be required to secure a suitable accommodation and receive landlord's consent to keeping a pet at the property ' said Rozi the founder at Easy Relocation.
For the above reasons Easy Relocation recommend the following guideline to the pet owners in search of a rental property;
Before a property search;
Make sure all pet documentations and vaccination certificates are up to date and in place.
Where pets are to be imported to the UK, Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs should be contacted for up to date regulations.
Property search;
Begin the property search well in advance and be up front about the pet.
Discover estate agents who are willing to discuss pets with the landlords.
Gradually extend the choice in types of property and expand the radius of the search.
On finding the right property;
Offering extra months of deposit may be helpful to secure a tenancy agreement.
Suggest a routine or periodic property visit by the inventory officer or the landlord every six months.
Make sure a special clause is included in the tenancy agreement with the pet's specifications.
Agree, or, offer to have the property professionally cleaned on departure.
It may be helpful to meet the landlord and make a good impression by presenting the pet, and producing a pet CV, a reference from the vet or previous landlord.
