Dr. David Jeremiah, bestselling author, founder and host of Turning Point ministries, and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California, will address the most common fears in today’s society in the nonfiction title What Are You Afraid Of?, releasing in October 2013 from Tyndale House Publishers. In this book, Dr. Jeremiah provides wisdom in facing down our fears with faith.
In this day and age, we are surrounded by things to fear, like terrorism, natural disasters, the economy, and disease. For many people, fear is a constant companion, and worry and anxiety are a way of life. In What Are You Afraid Of?, Dr. Jeremiah explores the top nine fears that hold people back from the peace that God has promised us. He dedicates a chapter to each of the following fears: Disaster, Disease, Debt, Defeat, Disconnection, Disapproval, Danger, Depression, and Death. The final chapter brings clarity to one particular fear that should be part of our daily lives: Deity—the fear of God.
Most important, however, Dr. Jeremiah shares the supernatural, biblically-based truths for overcoming even the most frightening, unexpected, and overwhelming obstacles in life. His book provides counsel, wisdom, and encouragement, using the unchanging Word of God in an ever-changing world, to help readers understand that the only thing worth fearing is God Himself.
Dr. Jeremiah was motivated to write this book based upon the feedback he has heard from thousands of people in recent years. He states that “so many things are happening, where people are so filled with fear.” With global terrorism, disease, financial struggles, and natural disasters of the highest magnitude in the news today, Dr. Jeremiah contends that “there’s an awful lot going on that could provoke fear in the heart of a person.” Dr. Jeremiah considers this to be a pressing problem and shares, “The Bible has a lot to say about it. So I wanted to try to answer some of those questions from Scripture. And that’s why I wrote the book.”
“Tyndale is very excited to partner with Dr. Jeremiah and Turning Point Ministries,” says Lisa Jackson, Associate Publisher, Nonfiction. “David Jeremiah’s books are always culturally relevant and hope filled. We are thrilled to be working with the Turning Point team as they endeavor to reach the greatest number of people with the Word of God each year.”
