Garmin Forerunner 220 is a new GPS running watch from Garmin that is due out in late October and the Heart Rate Watch Company has named it the best GPS running watch under $250 for 2013.
"The Forerunner 220 came up with so many improvements over its predecessor, the 210, that it is a very significant development in GPS running watches," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company.
A full color screen that is 108px by 108px makes this watch screen tack sharp and more readable than ever before according to Squire. "The 220 is one of the first Garmin running watches to have a color display and it also features simple button operations and a sturdy, hinged wristband that’s comfortable for any size wrist," says Squire.
Lighter and Better Fit
"The new 220 is just 1.4 ounces making it the world's lightest GPS running watch and the new hinged band fits all sizes of wrist more comfortably than ever before," says Squire.
Connectivity and Garmin Connect Mobile App
Forerunner 220 allows you to instantly download all of your data to a Bluetooth Smart enabled smartphone when using the Garmin Connect mobile app. "You don't have to wait until you get back to a PC to see your data, which is great," says Squire.
Lose the Foot Pod
"Garmin 220 has a built-in accelerometer so you can track speed and distance data indoors even when you can't get GPS satellites," says Squire. He adds, "It also works to help track distance in tunnels when you could lose GPS signal."
"Vibration alerts are a great addition because they eliminate the possibility of missing audible alerts due to environmental noise," says Squire. He adds, "You can use these alerts in combination with audible alerts or independently and set them up for heart rate, distance."
