Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Noting the recent speed of change concerning cannabis in America’s political psyche, Bryan W. Brickner and Danielle Schumacher have a new posting on The Compassion Chronicles, “The Future Tense ~ Cannabising Politics.” Through dialogue they discuss perspectives on the near future of cannabis politics.
“This is the third part of a three-part series,” noted Brickner, who along with Schumacher is one of the many authors of The Cannabis Papers: A citizen’s guide to cannabinoids (2011). “The first two parts of the series, “The Past First” and “The Present Now,” looked at the last ten years and the current changes happening in Illinois and other states; this one looks to the future and the 2016 presidential political-scape.”
In 2007, Schumacher helped establish Oaksterdam University and was its first Chancellor. Under Obama’s administration, she was arrested for protesting the federal raid of Oaksterdam (3 April 2012/NBC Bay Area): “It was Obama’s federal employees,” stated Schumacher, “that terrorized Oaksterdam one year ago and ordered the Oakland Police to arrest me. Am I a fool to still believe that he might make a positive difference on this or other social justice issues? There’s a part of me that still thinks he can help make medical cannabis more of a reality.”
Schumacher added: “I believe cannabis supporters far outnumber non-supporters, and the government simply cannot afford to continue prosecuting citizens for non-violent crime on any level.”
When discussing cannabis politics in 2016’s presidential election, Schumacher was optimistic: “Well, between Sanjay Gupta changing his tune, and over 20 states allowing medical cannabis, more and more citizens and legislators are realizing the benefits of this healing plant. As more and more children’s seizures and autism are improved with cannabis, more and more Americans are rooting for the end of cannabis Prohibition.”
Brickner and Schumacher are part of “Publius” – a pen name used for The Cannabis Papers – and have been active in cannabis politics for more than a decade. The Compassion Chronicles is an online destination for news, opinion, resources and networking.
