Wearable Technology to Take Center Stage at GigaOM Mobilize Conference
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Some of the brightest minds in mobile innovation will take the stage at GigaOM Mobilize, being held October 16-17 in San Francisco. Now in its sixth year, Mobilize will examine the challenges and opportunities presented by the burgeoning Internet of Things, including wearable technology.
From smartwatch apps that track fitness to glasses that easily record video and post to social channels, wearable device makers generally agree that the integration of the technology must be seamless for the user. This is a pivotal time in wearable technology as the Internet of Things moves from concept to reality. Many questions remain about what it means to be connected, the role of design in user experience, and what’s next for the market.
Mobilize will address those questions in more than 30 panels and sessions, 9 workshops, and two analyst-led mapping sessions. Sessions and speakers include:
- Providing a personal service to athletes via a wearable device
Paul Gaudio of adidas Interactive and Olof Schybergson of Fjord will discuss how adidas’ interactive strategy resulted in a wearable device. They will reveal project details, from user insight to a wearable device that offers a personalized experience, and offer insight on designing for the wearable space.
- Building the internet of everything near me
Qualcomm’s Rob Chandhok will discuss the internet of everything, from shifting notions of what it means to be connected to complementary roles that will emerge for cloud-based services. He will review some of the challenges and solutions for consumer electronics and appliance companies introducing smart, connected products for home networks.
- The changing role of design in a new era of device connectivity
With the growing demand for smart, connected devices, technology has entered a new era of product design. Beyond just enhancing the functionality or feel of products, hardware is now becoming the catalyst for user experience. Dennis Miloseski of Samsung Design America will explain the role of design in an era of always-on, always-connected devices.
