ThreatMetrix Kicks Off National Cyber Security Awareness Month Announcing its ThreatMetrix Global Trust Intelligence Network has Reached 500 Million Monthly Transactions
San Jose, Calif. (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- ThreatMetrix™, the fastest-growing provider of integrated cybercrime solutions, kicks off the 10th Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month announcing that its ThreatMetrix Global Trust Intelligence Network (The Network) has reached 500 million monthly transactions. The Network is the only global data repository that provides insight into positive and negative behavior and threat intelligence for both online personas and devices using trust-based authentication. This milestone validates ThreatMetrix’s commitment to National Cyber Security Awareness Month’s first weekly theme – “Cyber Security is Our Shared Responsibility.”
National Cyber Security Awareness Month serves as an opportunity to engage public and private sector stakeholders to create a safe, secure, resilient cyber environment. To commemorate the month, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has dedicated each week to a different theme relating to cyber security awareness. By reaching 500 million monthly transactions, The Network aligns with the first week’s theme by helping more than 1,900 customers and 9,000 websites share threat intelligence data to take responsibility and prevent cybercrime.
“Now that The Network has surpassed more than 500 million monthly transactions, businesses can more accurately differentiate between authentic and potentially fraudulent transactions and customers,” said Andreas Baumhof, chief technology officer, ThreatMetrix. “While a collective approach to cybercrime should be a priority for businesses year-round, National Cyber Security Awareness Month is the perfect opportunity to educate individuals and businesses on the importance of having preventative cyber security measures in play.”
In addition to The Network reaching 500 million transactions, ThreatMetrix aligned with the “Cyber Security is Our Shared Responsibility,” theme at the recent ThreatMetrix 2013 Cybercrime Prevention Summit – “Strength in Numbers.” The third annual summit emphasized the importance of a collective approach, stopping sophisticated cybercriminals in their tracks, meaning individuals and businesses must work together to make cyber security a priority to stay ahead of today’s evolving cybercrime threats.
“Today’s evolving and rapidly growing cyber security threats show no signs of slowing down and, following our recent summit, National Cyber Security Awareness Month serves as an excellent opportunity to reinforce our commitment to a collective approach to cybercrime prevention,” said Reed Taussig, president and CEO at ThreatMetrix. “No company or individual can stand alone in the fight against cybercrime. Through continuous innovation, we have developed a collaborative approach to preventing cybercrime, account takeover, payment fraud and identity spoofing.”
Additional Weekly Themes for National Cyber Security Awareness Month
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has outlined specific themes for every week in October, in an effort to raise awareness of cyber security challenges in the coming years. ThreatMetrix is fundamentally aligned with National Cyber Security Awareness Month and has plans to support each week’s theme throughout the month. The remaining themes include:
• Week Two (October 7-11) – Being Mobile: Online Safety and Security
• Week Three (October 14-18) – Cyber Workforce and the Next Generation of Cyber Leaders
• Week Four (October 21-25) – Cyber Crime
• Week Five (October 28-31) – Critical Infrastructure and Cyber Security
