Woodbridge, VA (PRWEB) August 12, 2013
On August 4, 2013, Belvoir Federal helped sponsor the “La Leche League” of Fort Belvoir by donating a $100 gift card, used to purchase food, and six cases of water. “La Leche League,” which is the most renowned mother-to-mother breastfeeding support group, had 50 people in attendance at Fort Belvoir’s First Annual Breastfeeding Recognition Ceremony.
Over a dozen mothers within the group have exceeded their set goal of exclusive breastfeeding for six months. This achievement is a testament to the great start to breastfeeding provided at the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, including policies that promote and support breastfeeding, and a staff that works tirelessly to ensure success in those previous hours following birth.
For those women who met their goal, they were presented with a coin of recognition at the First Annual Breastfeeding Recognition Ceremony by special guest Robyn Roche-Paull, RN, BSN, IBCLC author of Breastfeeding in Combat Boots. Robyn stated, “Thank you (Belvoir Federal) for your service and for giving the breast for baby and country.”
The “La Leche League” of Fort Belvoir group meets monthly to help mothers by providing advice and offering a sense of community. For more information about the “La Leche League” of Fort Belvoir, visit http://breastfeedingincombatboots.com/resources/support-groups.
