Richard have been elected Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). AAML Fellows across the United States are nationally recognized by judges and attorneys as preeminent family law practitioners with a high level of knowledge, skill and integrity. Dickinson Wright/Mariscal Weeks enjoys the largest number of family law attorneys accepted into the AAML with three out of 29 fellows from the state of Arizona.
Dana M. Levy is a Member and focuses her practice on family law. She is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of Arizona and concentrates her practice on dissolution, post-dissolution, paternity, child custody and child support matters. She is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Family Law Section. She serves as a pro tem judge and mediator in family law for the Maricopa County Superior Court. Ms. Levy received her B.A. from Brandeis University and her J.D. from the Arizona State University School of Law. Her acceptance into the AAML makes her only the 2nd female attorney in Maricopa County and the 9th in the State of Arizona to achieve this honor.
Leonce (“Lee”) A. Richard is a Member and focuses his practice on family law. He has been a Certified Specialist in Family Law for over 10 years and routinely serves as a pro tem judge and mediator in family law for the Maricopa County Superior Court. His practice focuses almost exclusively on family law/domestic relations matters of all types, including complex divorce litigation, legal separation, annulments, paternity, child custody and visitation, grandparents’ rights, and various post-divorce matters. He has over 25 years of experience in handling appellate cases involving family law matters and also does extensive work negotiating and drafting premarital/prenuptial agreements between future spouses. Mr. Richard received his B.A. from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law.
The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers was founded in 1962, by highly regarded domestic relations attorneys “to provide leadership that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law.” The Academy Fellows are highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. These areas include divorce, annulment, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, marital settlement agreements, child custody and visitation, business valuations, property valuations and division, alimony, child support and other family law issues.
To qualify for membership to the American Academy of Matrimonial Law, an attorney must be recognized by the bench and bar in his or her jurisdiction as an expert practitioner in matrimonial law; admitted to the bar for 10 years with 75 percent specialization in matrimonial law; have state family law certification if it exists; pass oral and/or written examination on wide-ranging issues pertaining to matrimonial and family law; interviewed by a state board of examiners; aspire to the ethical standards set forth in the “Bounds of Advocacy” as well as state bar rules of professional conduct; and demonstrate involvement in study or improvement of matrimonial law.
