Domestic Violence - Who is affected?

This is a serious social problem which affects generations of families and the victims themselves are not to blame in any way.

Leeds, West Yorkshire (PRWEB UK) 10 December 2013

Every 9 seconds a woman is assaulted or beaten, and one in 6 men across the UK are affected by domestic violence. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, and help is closer than you think.

This infographic, featuring data from the Office for National Statistics and The Crown Prosecution Service, illustrates just some of the alarming statistics associated with domestic violence.

Simpson Millar LLP are just one of the many corporations working with the Corporate Alliance Against Domestic Violence (CAADV) who aim to demonstrate to businesses both the human and economic impact of domestic violence to the workplace.

The CAADV advise businesses on best practice and help them support employees who are victims of domestic violence.

Following on from White Ribbon Day on the 25th of November and culminating with 16 Days of Action to end violence against women, awareness is being raised worldwide of the impact domestic violence has on women, men, families and all involved.

Simpson Millar LLP's Emma Pearmaine from the Family Law department commented: "Sufferers of domestic violence often keep their problems secret because they are afraid they themselves will be judged negatively. Domestic violence is a taboo subject and this has to end. "

"This is a serious social problem that affects generations of families and the victims themselves are not to blame in any way," said Emma.

Emma further went on to say: "We hope that by campaigning we will raise the profile of this terrible problem and help those who are surviving the nightmare that is domestic violence, so they feel that they can tell someone and that help is at hand."
