Lawyer Cherie Brant Joins Dickinson Wright LLP as a Partner
Detroit, Mich. (PRWEB) August 28, 2013 -- Dickinson Wright LLP is pleased to announce that Lawyer Cherie Brant has joined the firm's Toronto office as a Partner.
A member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and with family from Wikwemikong First Nation on Manitoulin Island, Ms. Brant is a trusted advisor to both First Nations and Industry in the areas of commercial development, real estate and Aboriginal law. Ms. Brant is active in providing strategic counsel to proponents in the natural resources and energy development sector seeking to develop projects with First Nations and to understand and address Aboriginal rights and interests.
In 2012, she completed the first 100% First Nation owned windpower project in Ontario and is active in providing on-going advocacy to promote renewable energy development proponents across many jurisdictions.
Ms. Brant is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business. She is also an Advisory Member of the Collaborative Circle on Land and People and a Board Member of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Ontario Region. Last year, Ms. Brant was named one of Lexpert magazine’s Rising Stars “Leading Lawyers under 40”.
Ms. Brant received her Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and her J.D. from the University of Toronto.
