Metro Appliances & More Cookbook to Benefit Tulsa Community
Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) December 05, 2013 -- Metro Appliances & More has created a custom cookbook available for purchase at Metro Appliances & More and Metro Outdoor Living in Tulsa, Okla. All proceeds from the cookbook will go to The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
The cookbook contains a collection of simple recipes, as well as specialties from some of Tulsa's most famous chefs and favorite restaurants, including James Shrader, The Palace Cafe; Jonathan Moosmiller, Southern Hills Country Club; Gran Vesparian, Oaks Country Club; John Briscoe, McGill's on 21st Street; and Geoffrey Van Glabbeek, The Restaurant at Gilcrease.
“Metro Appliances and More has been a great supporter of the Food Bank and many of our partner programs for years,” said Eileen Bradshaw, executive director at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. “This cookbook is another beautiful example of their generosity and we’re so grateful to receive the proceeds.”
“Metro Appliances & More created a similar cookbook for the Springfield, Mo., market a few years ago and it generated more than $10,000 for the Springfield Public School's new reading program,” said Judy Bilyeu, Corporate Marketing Director for Metro Appliances & More. “As an employee-owned company, it is important for us to give back to the communities where our stores are located.”
The mission of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is to feed the hungry in it's area through a network of partner programs and to engage these communities in ending hunger. As the largest private hunger-relief organization of eastern Oklahoma, its vision is food security, with dignity, for all eastern Oklahomans. The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma provides food and other donated goods to 450 partner programs in 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma. These programs include emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs and senior citizen centers. They provide more than 275,000 meals each week to people struggling with hunger. During fiscal year 2013 they distributed more than 17.1 million pounds of food.
Employee-owned Metro Appliances & More was originally formed as Metro Builders Supply in 1974 by Nick Stavros of Tulsa, Okla.
