On National Tradesmen Day, Mr. Rooter® Honors Current Tradesmen, Encourages Future Potentials
Waco, Texas (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- As the qualified pool of skilled tradesmen continues to shrink (Forbes, March 2013) and public officials laud the trades as a viable option for our graduating youth (NY Daily News, May 2013), Mr. Rooter Plumbing is taking the time to honor the plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters working hard during National Tradesmen Day on September 20, 2013.
“As the labor pool containing skilled tradesmen, including plumbers, electricians and maintenance repairmen remains at a shortage, we wanted to ensure we take the time to honor those tradesmen on whom our industry and way of life depend,” stated President of Mr. Rooter Plumbing, Mary Kennedy Thompson. “National Tradesmen Day is a great way to recognize the impact tradesmen have on our lives and to raise awareness of the imminent need for more folks to look into a trade profession.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for a plumber in 2010 was roughly $47,000. This income outpaced comparable occupational workers’ annual earnings by close to $15,000. In addition, the employment of plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters is expected to grow 26 percent from 2010 to 2020, aiding in job security.
Mr. Rooter and Thompson, a recently licensed plumber herself, continues working alongside Mr. Rooter franchises across the nation on defining a strategy for recruiting and retaining skilled technicians in the plumbing trade.
