One championship determined, the other awaits. On Wednesday night, three divisional series were decided, while the fourth is going to a game five. The Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics will be dueling Thursday night in a winner takes all game. Will the Athletics defy history and make it to the championship series? The last time Oakland won a World Series was back in 1989, and the team’s last two trips to the postseason were both ended by the Tigers. Furthermore, those two times the Tigers ended Oakland’s season, they ended up making it to the World Series. So will the Athletics turn the tables Thursday night and hand the Tigers their trip home? Find out at Ticketmonster.com.
The Cinderella story of the Pittsburgh Pirates unfortunately came to an end Wednesday night, when the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pirates in game 5 of a hard fought series. Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright pitched a complete game while leading his team to 6-1 win. This is the third straight season that the Cardinals will play in the National League Championship, making it known to the Nation that they are for real. This was the Pirates first pot season appearance 1992, and the team has not won a post-season series since they won the World Series in 1979. It’s been a tough 34 years for Pittsburgh fans.
Ah, the Red Sox. Let’s see, where to begin? Well, the Red Sox finished last season in last place, dead last, by 26 games out of first. Seems they decided they had enough of last place this year, and finished first in the AL East. Their MLB rivals the Yankees weren’t so lucky this year, as New York did not make it to the post season. The Red Sox made the ALDS quick and, not painless, for the Tampa Bay Rays, as they defeated them three games to one. Boston fans looking for ALCS tickets can find them fast at Ticketmonster.com.
