Scapes Incorporated Plants a Seed of Donation; Stonewall Jackson Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Olivia Henderson, Honored for 22 Years of Leadership
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Today announces the completion of a rooted tribute to DISD’s Stonewall Jackson Elementary School Principal, Olivia Henderson, who in 1991 accepted an assignment as Principal of Stonewall Jackson Elementary School. During the time, principal assignments were short lived, generally lasting no more than three years. Twenty two years later, Mrs. Henderson has prevailed as the principal to stay at one school the longest in district history. Amongst Mrs. Henderson’s many achievements as principal of Stonewall she is most proud of her leadership in assembling the first school garden in Dallas with Stonewall’s garden program.
Davey Devlin of Scapes Incorporated, whose daughter is a student at Stonewall, found inspiration within the disenchanting scenery surrounding the carpool area where his daughter was dropped off each day. Devlin explained, “It always bothered me that the first thing parents, teachers and children saw every morning were empty beds with weeds.” As a proud and spirited student of Stonewall, his daughter would ask him frequently to make her “school look pretty” for her teachers and friends.
Stonewall’s parents, staff and students alike wanted to find a way to honor Mrs. Henderson’s contributions to the school and so, Devlin offered his Scapes Incorporated landscaping services as an honorary contribution. The rose garden design was presented to the school’s current Principal last week, with the collective ideation of honoree, Mrs. Henderson, and was granted permission with utmost praise.
Now, children, parents and faculty are no longer greeted with empty beds with weeds, but a beautifully crafted display of roses and s sign honoring the dedication and work of Mrs. Henderson.
