La'Toya R. Ray, C.P.A. and CEO of Fresh Start Tax & Accounting, Was Named VIP Woman of the Year by National Association of Professional Women
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- For leadership in accounting and tax services, the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors La’Toya R. Ray as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, NAPW is a powerfully vibrant networking community with nearly 500,000 members and over 400 Local Chapters.
“I love math. My passion for accounting is the key to my business venture. I am doing something I love so it never feels like work,” says Ms. Ray, who previously worked in the government sector. After assisting a friend with his tax and accounting needs for his small business, Ms. Ray realized that was what she enjoyed doing most. Five months later, she took the leap to entrepreneurship, quit her secure, full-time job, and founded her own accounting firm.
As CPA and CEO at Fresh Start Tax & Accounting, Ms. Ray expertly handles clients’ bookkeeping records, prepares financial statements, corresponds with taxing authorities, files appropriate tax returns and oversees the work of an accounting assistant. Dealing almost exclusively with small businesses, Ms. Ray happily takes on the role of motivator, encouraging her clients to keep pushing forward even when they have yet to see above-the-line profits.
Among her many accomplishments, including helping a client settle his IRS debt and secure his financial freedom, Ms. Ray considers the establishment of Fresh Start Tax & Accounting to be her ultimate success. “This is my American dream!” she says.
