Dr. Sharp of NeuroEducation Expands Services to include Grief Counseling
Spokane, WA (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- A new model of using online counseling strategies to connect and help widows and widowers in a Spokane, Washington based program will be launched in late 2013.
The program is designed to offer an alternative to face-to-face counseling in an office with a psychologist or counselor. The no-cost program will offer a one-hour seminar (webinar) full of specific knowledge and strategies to help the grieving person move from just surviving to actually thriving in their new life. A program, following this seminar, will be available for alternating individual and group counseling sessions. Additional materials and workbook modules will be available as well. While there is schedule for grief, and each person’s experience varies, the typical grief process lasts about 5-8 years of recovery time. With effective counseling that can be reduced, but you never forget your loved one. Untreated, moderate to severe grief can bring a person’s life to a halt.
Pat Sharp, Ph.D., clinic director of a private practice group of psychologists and counselors, states, “After 36 years in the mental health field, one of the most rewarding areas of work involves helping the grieved. Now that I have lost two husbands after lengthy and loving marriages, I personally appreciate how important counseling is to healing. This is one of the most difficult processes a person will have to go through in their life. Getting help and support without the huge cost of counseling motivated me to create this program.”
One benefit of the program is the affordability of receiving qualified help. Another benefit of the program is that people living too far away to conveniently see a therapist will now have counseling available to them, at times that fit their schedule. There are no travel costs, or parking fees. Further, because of the added workbook materials of the program, they can do much of the work on their own, at home. The cost is therefore greatly reduced from long-term in-office counseling.
