Major International airlines on average delivered 75.85% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule in June, down from May’s 80.70%. Cancellations for the group were 1.39%, up a fraction from 1.09% last month. Six major international carriers: (SA) South African, (GF) Gulf Air, (NH) ANA, (JL) Japan Airlines, (AY) Finnair, and (VO) Tyrolean Airways delivered over 90% of their flights on time.

Stormy weather significantly impacted, June’s air traffic performance in North America. North American airlines, on average, delivered 73.57% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule in June compared with 79.98% in May. The group’s cancellations decreased to 2.10% up from 1.29%. (HA) Hawaiian recaptured the top spot in North America with 92.23%, and (AS) Alaska led the majors again with 86.80% on-time performance.

A mix of major and regional European airlines turned in solid performances in June despite the French air traffic controller strike. (NT) Binter Canarias once again took the top spot delivering 99.41% of its flights on time. This month, 9 of the 50 airlines we evaluated had over 90% of their flights to the gate on time compared to 17 in the previous month. The on-time performance for the group was 81.01% down from May’s 85.09%. Cancellations for the group were up slightly to 1.38%.

(HND) Tokyo's Haneda maintained its top spot among the world’s busiest airports with an on-time performance of 95.04%. In June, four North American airports, three European airports, and three Asian Airports were in the top ten. The average on-time departure performance among the top 35 international airports was 69.26% down significantly from May’s rate of 74.92% and cancellations for the group were 1.99% up from May’s rate of 1.31%. Stormy weather in North America and the air traffic controller strike in France appears to have impacted the overall airport performance average with many airports in these regions performing less punctually during this time period.
