Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) October 16, 2013

Athena Learning Centers of Princeton, New Jersey, today announced it will open its fourth franchise in the U.S. within the highly anticipated Radbourne Skatepark complex in Orlando that is scheduled to open in December. This development marks the beginning of a partnership with the Radbourne Property Group, owners and operators of Radbourne Skateparks, that will likely lead to the integration of additional Athena Learning Centers within these recreational lifestyle facilities as they open throughout the U.S.

Athena Learning Centers are a community of year-round Learning Centers that offer K-12 students innovative solutions for improving their math and reading skills in preparation for success in college and the 21st century workplace. A key differentiator for Athena is that it features the only after school program curriculum that is directly aligned with the Common Core State Standards.

“We look forward to providing the educational component that Radbourne Skateparks has sought to extend the day and summer programming at their family-oriented skateboard parks,” stated Deven Klein, COO and co-founder of Athena Learning Centers. Klein added, “This partnership with an organization that has such a progressive vision for a new generation of recreation, entertainment and lifestyle destinations aligns very well with our best-in-class education solution for students.”

Radbourne Skatepark will open in Orlando in Festival Bay on the former site of the popular Vans skateboarding arena that closed in January 2013. According to Radbourne Managing Partner John Van Clief, the new 80,000 sq. foot indoor/outdoor facility will expand on the traditional skatepark model to provide “skatertainment,” a full roster of youth lifestyle activities, dining options, shopping educational programs, events and concerts that it will host at its on-site restaurant, lounge, media room and cutting edge retail outlets. He sees the Athena Learning Center franchise as key to Radbourne Skatepark’s business model.

“Radbourne Skateparks will offer premium skating and extreme sports experiences, as well as engaging lifestyle experiences, for the whole family. The high quality educational element Athena Learning Center provides is invaluable to this mission,” said Van Clief. “In addition, they are very much like us in the progressive and creative approach they take to their business, which makes this a natural and exciting partnership.”

Additional franchise agreements between the two organizations are imminent as Radbourne plans to open another seven skateparks throughout the U.S. by 2016.
