Rock County, Minn., Announces New E-Recording Service for Customers

[E-Recording] is simply where the industry is heading. I did not want to be thought of as an ‘office dinosaur.’ I wanted to be able to e-record when asked by any one of my customers.

ROCK COUNTY, Minn. (PRWEB) November 01, 2013

Simplifile’s electronic recording (e-recording) service is now available in Rock County, Minn., enabling document submitters such as title companies, banks, and attorneys, to record all document types more quickly and efficiently online, instead of by mail, runner, or courier service.

“[E-Recording] is simply where the industry is heading,” said Rock County Land Records Director Tom Houselog. “I did not want to be thought of as an ‘office dinosaur.’ I wanted to be able to e-record when asked by any one of my customers. I did not want to have to respond that ‘no, we can’t e-record’.”

According to Houselog, they also decided to make e-recording available to make the recording process simpler and easier for customers, and they hope to get as many e-recording users as possible.

As a result, this service “will help make better use of staff time and decrease expenses,” he said.

Fewer rejected documents, eliminating check-writing expenses, using less paper, postage and fuel, are some of the other benefits that come with e-recording.

“Simplifile has made the transition away from paper an easy process,” Houselog said.

Using Simplifile’s service, customers will be able to submit all document types for e-recording to the county and have them electronically reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned much more quickly than using the mail.

Rock County will be hosting an e-recording kick-off meeting in Luverne on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Rock County Courthouse in the Commissioner’s Meeting Room at 204 E. Brown St.

Simplifile e-recording representative Melanie Gornick will be in attendance at the meeting to demonstrate the newly available service and answer questions about e-recording. Those in attendance will also be offered an introductory discount on Simplifile’s service. To RSVP for the meeting, email melanie(at)simplifile(dot)com.
