National Association of Professional Women Announces Kelly Buck, M.S.W., Director of Student Opportunity Services at MSU Billings, as VIP Woman of the Year

NAPW honors Kelly Buck as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in academic services with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 500,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.

“I absolutely love my job. I get to assist students daily in their journey to identify and realize their true potential,” says Ms. Buck, who for three years, has been instrumental in the growth of the MSU TRiO program. Dedicated to its mission of providing access to higher education for low-income, first generation and disability students, Ms. Buck has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the program's continuous quality improvement.

As director of student opportunity services at MSU Billings, Ms. Buck implements academic support on all activities promoting learning and retention. With an expert handle on verbal and written communication skills, computer competencies and strategic planning tactics, she ensures all grant objectives are met each year while working diligently to maintain the program's fiscal accountability. Above all else, Ms. Buck establishes the program's positive reputation for developing academic excellence, proven by the success of each student whose life she has touched.

Ms. Buck continues to strengthen the connections that make it possible for her to further enrich the lives of others through her membership in the Diversity Initiative Group, which she co-chairs, and the Montana Association of Female Executives, where she serves as co-chair of accommodations and a member of the board. “My passion is to strive for and promote social justice,” she says.
