NAPW honors Nicole Anne Saloio as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in the vertical transportation industry with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 500,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
“When I started in the industry, there were very few women in management positions. Today it is great to see more and more women achieving leadership roles and in engineering positions,” says Ms. Saloio, national sales support manager for modernization at Schindler Elevator Corporation.
Although the elevator business has been a traditionally male-dominated industry, it hasn’t stopped Ms. Saloio from having a highly successful career. She brings nearly 25 years of experience to her role at Schindler. Keeping everyone up-to-date on the latest technology and modernization solutions, from the sales force to customers to industry groups, is one of Ms. Saloio's key areas of expertise. She has also been instrumental in the launch of the company’s latest destination dispatch product, The PORT Technology, which “revolutionizes the science of optimizing traffic flow through a building while offering personalized service and access control.”
Ms. Saloio’s meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational acumen and outstanding leadership style all contribute to her success. But it is her effective communication skills that really set her apart in this complex industry. “I am very good at taking the technical ‘geek’ speak and putting it into English. We have extremely smart engineers and they have taught me a lot, which has helped me effectively communicate with customers. I have always been lucky with being able to pick things up quickly,” she says.
NAPW provides an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect, learn and achieve. Through innovative resources, tools and benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
