NAPW honors Heidi Gray as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in graphic design with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with nearly 500,000 members and over 400 Local Chapters.
“I have always been creative. I’ve always loved painting and illustrating,” says Ms. Gray. “I decided to start building my business in surface design, marrying my two loves: craft and design.” With Heidi Gray Designs LLC, Ms. Gray has established a successful graphic design company that has fueled her passion for entrepreneurship.
Specializing in surface design and art for licensing, Ms. Gray describes her design style as “fashion meets technology” where she merges traditional, hand-drawn illustration with digital design. She will soon debut a new line of covers she has created that were licensed for iPhones, Kindles and iPads. “It’s very exciting!” says Ms. Gray of her latest creative endeavors.
A former creative director with 12 years of experience in packaging and branding, Ms. Gray also provides freelance design services for branding, packaging, print and presentations. When she’s not creating, Ms. Gray enjoys sharing her knowledge of and passion for design through her part-time teaching position at Gateway Community College. “I teach graphic design intro as well as more advanced design courses. I really enjoy the process of teaching and to be able to share my experiences with students,” she says.
