Introducing the Coral Atoll & Maya Rainforest Belize Adventure
Dangriga, Belize (PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- Island Expeditions, Belize adventure specialists, have announced their new all-inclusive Belize vacation, the Coral Atoll and Maya Rainforest Adventure. This classic Belize trip combines a remote reef experience on Lighthouse Reef Atoll and then ventures inland through the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, the New River, and the ancient Mayan ruins of Lamanai.
Lighthouse Reef is Belize’s oldest protected marine reserve, renowned for its abundant marine life and thriving coral reefs. It is home to the Great Blue Hole, an underwater cave and sinkhole made famous by legendary underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau. Half Moon Caye lies in the southeast corner of Lighthouse Reef, a national monument with white sandy beaches and a fascinating Red-Footed Booby Colony of 4000 breeding birds. Island Expeditions, in partnership with the Belize Audubon Society, has established a unique Adventure Basecamp where guests are led on daily sea kayaking trips, are taken on a snorkeling excursion to the Blue Hole, and have access to the viewing platform for the Red-Footed Boobies.
The trip then ventures inland to the Mayan ruins of Lamanai, traveling by boat through the wetlands of the New River to Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Crooked Tree is home to an astounding diversity of indigenous birds and wildlife, including northern Jacanas and the huge Jabiru stork.
