Military Friendly ® Virtual Career and College Fair Launches
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- A Virtual Career and College Fair connecting active military, veterans and spouses with representatives from pre-vetted Military Friendly® Employers and Schools was launched today on MilitaryFriendly.com by Victory Media. It can be found at Militaryfriendly.com/events.
Free candidate registration is required and attendance is limited, so service members, spouses, and veterans are encouraged to register immediately and save their space. The virtual college fair is the first to pair members of the military community seeking careers and education with representatives from pre-screened Military Friendly ® Employers and Schools using interactive online events technology. The event, scheduled for November 19 and 20, will allow active military, veterans and spouses from across the globe to get a real “boots on the ground” perspective of companies and schools, and engage one-on-one with representatives from their military recruiting teams.
“The virtual fair provides an unprecedented opportunity for service members, spouses and veterans to interact with the top tier of companies and schools doing the most to support military,” said Sean Collins, Vice President for Victory Media, the event host. “The interactive, virtual format is especially attractive for service members deployed overseas or those still in uniform deciding which opportunities best fit their needs.”
The virtual event is a highly efficient alternative to conventional career and college fairs, which often are constrained to one geographic area, have limited interaction between exhibitors and candidates, and result in costly travel expenses. Companies and schools participating in the event will be limited to those which have earned the Military Friendly® designation via a data-driven survey process.
“Choosing a job or school is a huge choice in one’s life and the options are seemingly endless,” said Bri Phillis, Community Manager at Victory Media and a Post-9/11 Army veteran. “Coming out of the military I looked for companies and schools who really got me and my skill set. The virtual career and college fair will provide a unique opportunity for veterans to find companies and schools who truly understand military.”
The event is the first to limit exhibiting companies and schools to those measured by an objective standard, via the Military Friendly® survey process. Participating companies and schools include: Baker Hughes, CACI, Capital One, Central Texas, Columbia University, Convergys, Cornell University, Deloitte, Embry-Riddle, Hewlett Packard, Marshall, Martin Methodist College, Penn State, Southern Company, University of Alabama, University of Nebraska, USAA, and Xcel Energy.
