Through EmPower New York, NYS Energy Audits strives to reduce electric and gas consumption by making homes as energy efficient as possible, with no hidden costs, no strings attached.
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 03, 2014
With a brutal winter and record-breaking snowfall on the horizon, there is no better time for locals to protect their homes against harsh, often unpredictable weather. And filling out a single application could mean the difference between high heating bills for drafty rooms and a cozy house that costs far less to maintain. Through EmPower New York, NYS Energy Audits strives to reduce electric and gas consumption by making residences as energy efficient as possible, with no hidden costs or strings attached. For qualifying homeowners, tenants and landlords, these upgrades require no out-of-pocket expenses; residents simply request, complete and submit the application to qualify for an Energy Audit Rebate.
Once the application is approved, they can schedule a visit by a licensed and certified NYS Energy Audits consultant, who will walk them through a “whole house” assessment to identify air leaks and other sources of energy loss. They will install high-efficiency light bulbs, smoke/CO detectors and low-flow showerheads; insulation, particularly in attics and crawl spaces; and strategic air sealing in windows, ceilings and floors. They will examine old, inefficient fridges and freezers and determine whether they qualify to be replaced—at absolutely no cost to the customer—with ENERGY STAR® certified models. Consultants can also provide tips and strategies for better managing the household’s utility costs.
