How to Automate the SharePoint Site Collection Creation Process
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) October 13, 2014 -- PremierPoint Solutions will host a webinar Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. EDT that explains a no-cost way to create and provision new SharePoint site collections uniformly and automatically.
The webinar, “Introducing a Free Solution for Automating the SharePoint Site Collection Creation Process,” will showcase PremierPoint Solutions’no-cost edition of Site Provisioning and Governance Assistant (SPGA) for SharePoint.
SPGA automates the approval and creation of new SharePoint site collections, while maintaining consistency and compliance with company policies and standards.
There is no charge to attend the one-hour webinar, which includes a question and answer session. Attendees will learn details about how SPGA works and view a demonstration of it in action.
The hosts are Randy Moody, customer service manager for PremierPoint Solutions, and Aaron Wood, manager of commercial software engineering and support.
Moody described SPGA as “a site collection vending machine” that allows users to create and provision unlimited SharePoint site collections automatically, with all the capabilities and limits the administrator has specified.
“SPGA is easy to install, easy to set up, easy to use and a huge time saver,” he said. “It’s designed for organizations that need numerous SharePoint site collections created and provisioned on an ongoing basis, and want to ensure that their organization’s SharePoint taxonomy, governance and other standards are adhered to consistently.”
While manually creating SharePoint site collections is an option, the process can be labor-intensive and tie up valuable IT resources, resulting in a backlog of site collections waiting to be approved and provisioned.
The other alternative – letting users create their own site collections – usually results in no clear standards or consistency.
“By automating the site collection creation process, SPGA enables administrators to ensure that each site collection is created and configured without variation, automatically, according to pre-determined settings,” Wood said.
With SGPA, the administrator simply “loads” all the appropriate site functionality, settings, security and limitations into “Site Request Profiles.” Uniformity, governance and company standards are strictly enforced, enabling administrators to enjoy the benefits of a "set-it-and-forget-it" solution.
SPGA works with SharePoint 2010 and 2013, both Foundation and Server editions.
