Tariq Drabu encourages patients who smoke, to quit and enjoy a healthier smoke free life.
(PRWEB) January 01, 2014 -- Tariq Drabu has been encouraging his patients to stop smoking. The team from Langley Dental Practice, in Middleton is lending its support and encouragement to all the patients who are attempting to stop smoking. He is a highly respected dentist in Manchester, and he is also a teacher and mentor for postgraduate students of dentistry. For over 25 years, he has served many thousands of patients by providing first class dental care, so he understands the risks to oral and general health caused by smoking.
Tariq Drabu told us recently, “Excessive smoking causes gum disease, respiratory diseases, and mouth cancers. I understand how difficult it can be to stop smoking, but I also know that quitting cigarettes will change lives for the better.” He was speaking recently in reference to the British Heart Foundation’s campaign for 2014 which is encouraging people to quit smoking on March 12. An article recently published in The Dentist Website provides information about the campaign. The article can be read here.
Tariq Drabu strongly believes that by providing information, support and encouragement to smokers, they will be successful in their endeavors to stop. He also said, “My staff and I do all that we can to encourage smokers to quit the habit. The practice in Langley has information that patients can access if they need it. Regular check-ups and good oral health is vital in the battle against tooth decay, gum disease and mouth cancers so we also urge patients to pay regular visits to the dentist. As part of our regular dental check-ups we always ask our patients about their tobacco and alcohol consumption and issue preventative advice as necessary. I have seen too many patients suffer extreme pain and discomfort as a result of diseases developed through excessive smoking.”
Tariq Drabu is determined to positively contribute to the reduction of future cases of mouth cancers by playing his part in educating patients and giving them the professional support they need. He went on to say, “I know many people who have succeeded in stopping smoking. While they all agree that it was a difficult addiction to stop, they all say that their lives and health have hugely improved just because they kicked the habit of cigarettes! I am hoping to create as many opportunities as possible for my own patients to be encouraged by others.”
Tariq Drabu also said, “I applaud the British Heart Foundation for their hard work. The annual campaign is always instrumental in helping more people to stop smoking. We will be playing our part here in Langley, and I will be encouraging my students to spread the word in their work places too.”
The British Heart Foundation has been encouraging dental staff to do their part in encouraging as many people as possible to stop smoking. This is being achieved by making quit aids available within practices, and sign posting information for support groups, and local services available to help smokers who want to quit. Tariq Drabu closed by saying, “I am pleased that everyone here at the Langley Dental Practice is behind this campaign. New Year is a time when many people choose to stop smoking so we will be ready to give them the support they need.”
