The International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) has launched a Technical Division dedicated to understanding the developing tech and emerging solutions in the medical interpretation industry. As a US-based non-profit organization, the IMIA promotes equal language access across the globe, representing over 2,000 expert medical interpreters. Their new technology division (IMIATD) has set the goal of information gathering and impact analysis of emerging technology in the interpretation world.
Dan Gatti, Business Development Executive at Stratus Video Interpreting, was recently appointed as Chair of the Technology Division. Mr. Gatti has been involved in the health care industry for over 20 years. In addition to his position at Stratus Video, he is Executive Director of Health Cloud Solutions. He is dedicated to providing efficient and effective healthcare via cloud technology. He and his Vice Chair, Linda Golley of the University of Washington Medical Center, plan to reach out to hospitals to develop a Technology Advisory Board (TAB); comprised of individuals who have experience with and are enthusiastic about the impact of technology on interpretation.
