By teaming up for even one event in 2014, you could help provide services such as more phone calls home for our deployed troops or critical support for our wounded warriors returning home. -- Tracy Tucker, USO Director of Fundraising and Development

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) December 31, 2013

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, getting in shape and helping others are often at the top of most people’s list. In 2014, the USO is making it easier for Americans to accomplish their goals by providing one way to check off both resolutions at the same time. Anyone, anywhere can simply go to TeamUSO.org and register to compete in any of a number of fun and challenging athletic events. By registering through TEAM USO all funds raised by participants will go to support USO programs and services for our nations deployed troops, military families, wounded warriors and families of the fallen. To give participants an extra push, for the first time, the USO will have a virtual coach available to assist with training.

“TEAM USO was created to give Americans fun and creative ways to help the USO make a difference,” said Tracy Tucker, USO Director of Fundraising and Development. “It gives participants a chance to not only challenge themselves, but also dedicate their hard work to the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country, every day of the year. By teaming up for even one event in 2014, you could help provide services such as more phone calls home for our deployed troops or critical support for our wounded warriors returning home.”

From more than a dozen Rugged Maniac obstacle races to several marathons, including the Air Force Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and ING New York City Marathon, people have a lot to choose from when they visit TeamUSO.org. To meet demand, the USO has increased the number of TEAM USO athletic events being offered in 2014 as well as the number of slots up for grabs. If someone is already planning to compete in an event that is not listed at TeamUSO.org, they can still use the site to raise money for troops and military families. Once registered, competitors will receive their own TEAM USO webpage that they can customize and use to keep track of fundraising.
