CFO Consulting Services, Leading Long Island CPA Provider, Applauds New York City’s Business Atlas
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 03, 2014 -- Lawrence Teicher, the founder of Long Island CPA firm CFO Consulting Services, responds to an article published by Inc.com, which reveals a new business tool for New York City startups.
According to the December 27 Inc.com article titled “NYC Data Tool Gives Small Business an Edge,” New York City has released the “NYC Business Atlas,” a tool that helps small businesses compete with the large corporations in the area. The Business Atlas accomplishes this by releasing costly data to the public, and in turn, to local entrepreneurs.
The actual tool is simple to find and use, the article says. The user just needs to visit a special website created by the city of NY. From there, the user gets the option to research neighborhoods, and view updated demographic information. The author of the article says, “Based on a search of my old stomping grounds in Bushwick, Brooklyn, I was able to find the total population of the neighborhood is 7,625, while the median household income is $35,256 per year. I also learned how many of these households have children, rent their apartment, and are working from home--useful info for any business looking to set up shop in New York.”
The Big Apple has also taken further steps to make sure small businesses can take advantage of the data provided. Since number-based data can be hard to understand, the city hired Placemeter, a local startup, to explain some of the data offered by the Business Atlas to entrepreneurs. Through these measures, the city hopes to better educate entrepreneurs about certain neighborhoods before they sign a lease.
Lawrence Teicher, founder of Long Island CPA provider CFO Consulting Services, believes that New York City has done business owners a great service with New York City Business Atlas. “New York City is not the most small business-friendly city in the United States. In order to encourage small businesses, cities usually offer monetary incentives, like loans and tax breaks. The fact that New York City has gone above-and-beyond by offering tools and advice that would regularly cost thousands of dollars for free is spectacular. Above all, it shows that New York cares about its small businesses and I recommend any small business owner looking to set up shop in the city to use this tool.”
