Weatherbee Resources Announces Sale of HEN

We look forward to assisting with that growth and continuing to provide content for HEN as part of an ongoing and long-term contractual relationship between Relias and Weatherbee.

Relias Learning recently acquired the Hospice Education Network (HEN), a leading provider of online education for hospice and palliative care programs and professionals. The combined offerings of Relias Learning including Silverchair Learning, Care2Learn and now HEN, solidify its position as the leader in online training for senior care, hospice and palliative care markets.

Co-owners Heather Wilson, PhD and Joy Barry, RN, M.Ed, LNC launched HEN in 2007 to provide affordable and accessible online education to clients of Weatherbee Resources, which they also own. HEN soon expanded beyond Weatherbee’s clients and has provided online education to more than 1,000 organizations, including hospices, palliative care programs, universities, VA Medical Centers, hospitals and long-term care providers. Nearly one hundred thousand hospice and palliative care professionals have taken HEN courses.

“We are proud of what we accomplished with HEN,” said Heather Wilson, CEO and co-owner of Weatherbee. “With Relias’s leadership and planned investments, existing subscribers will have access to even more resources, including a best-in-class learning management system. There is a tremendous opportunity to reach a much broader hospice audience. We look forward to assisting with that growth and continuing to provide content for HEN as part of an ongoing and long-term contractual relationship between Relias and Weatherbee.”

“This was a tremendous opportunity for Relias and our Senior Care customers,” said Jim Triandiflou, Chief Executive Officer of Relias Learning. “The Hospice Education Network has been a leader, providing a wealth of knowledge, content and support to the hospice industry. Adding these resources to the Relias portfolio ensures that we have the very best content across the full continuum of senior care and can meet all of the industry’s training needs. Both Relias and HEN have been committed to creating world-class content solutions and customer support, and we are excited about bringing these two leaders together.”

The combined company’s online learning solutions and content will serve more than 4,000 organizations and nearly 2 million professionals with the most comprehensive content library and tracking mechanisms available in the market. The client base spans all facets of senior care from home health and hospice, to skilled nursing facilities and large multi-facility organizations, CCRCs, assisted living providers, and therapy and rehabilitation providers.
