CFCA is now Unbound

We walk side by side with people who dream of freeing themselves from poverty. Unbound sums up our work in one simple and powerful word.

Kansas City, KS (PRWEB) January 02, 2014

The largest nonprofit organization in Kansas and one of the top 200 nonprofits in the nation formerly known as Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (CFCA) is pleased to announce an updated name and a new look. CFCA’s new name is Unbound.

Unbound works directly with children, families and the elderly in 21 developing countries to support them as they confront the challenges of poverty and work toward a better life.

The organization supports more than 300,000 people throughout the world with direct aid made possible by nearly 270,000 sponsors, mostly from the United States. Sponsors are encouraged to develop personal relationships with their sponsored friends.

The average sponsor donates approximately a dollar a day. In turn, the sponsor has the opportunity to get involved in an adventure of hope and opportunity.

“We work with families as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and build strong communities,” said Unbound President and CEO Scott Wasserman.

“We walk side by side with people who dream of freeing themselves from poverty. Unbound sums up our work in one simple and powerful word.”

The organization was founded in 1981 with a Christmas card list and a dream to answer the world’s call to serve the poor.

Unbound has grown into an international organization with more than $110 million in annual revenue. It distributes direct aid as quickly and efficiently as possible to people who need it. More than 93 percent of all the money Unbound spends goes to program support.

In 2013, Unbound sent more than $100 million to the field in support of sponsorship and other programs. Unbound also is an innovator in the way aid is distributed, bringing groups of mothers together as part of the process and empowering women to create strong community connections.

In addition to sponsorship, Unbound provides funding for scholarships, disaster assistance, micro-financing, small business loans, and water and sanitation projects.
