10,000 Chicago Deep-Dish Pizzas will be sent to Soldiers Overseas for Super Bowl Sunday.
Pizzas 4 Patriots is teaming up with the world’s leading international express shipping provider, DHL Express, to quarterback the special delivery of 10,000 pizzas to U.S. servicemen and servicewomen on Super Bowl Sunday – America’s biggest day of the year for eating pizza.
With DHL Express donating the services of its global express shipping network to the non-profit organization, Pizzas 4 Patriots will be able to send enough deep dish pizza to feed every soldier stationed in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Oman.
“I know firsthand how meaningful these pizzas are to the troops and am thankful to DHL Express who graciously agreed to donate its shipping services to deliver a ‘slice of home’ to our troops,” said Retired Master Sergeant Mark Evans, founder of Pizzas 4 Patriots. “Since starting Pizzas 4 Patriots six years ago, we have gotten letters of appreciation from the military as well as from friends and family of those stationed overseas. These are really heartwarming and make it all worthwhile.”
DHL personnel will load the perishable pies onto direct U.S. flights to the Middle East, re-icing the shipments along the route and tracking the shipments every step of the way. The pizza delivery will be distributed to Camp Bastion, Baghram Airbase and Kandahar Airfield and then on to various Forward Operating Bases in Afghanistan – with some pizza pies also destined for troops in Kuwait and Oman. DHL Express will provide final, door-to-door delivery for the distribution, working closely with the U.S. military to ensure the pizzas are delivered fresh and ready at the various military bases.

Since 2008, Pizzas 4 Patriots has worked with DHL Express to send more than 132,000 pizzas in support of U.S. military personnel overseas, including a record setting pizza delivery confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012.
Pizzas 4 Patriots also serves a slice to those wounded and returning Veterans here at home; and through their many outreach efforts to V.A. Hospitals and Veterans events. The organization is preparing to ramp up efforts for their initiative, 'Operation Pizza Bowl', an event that combines their pizza partners along with 'The Senior Bowl,' which is the last opportunity for college players to show their stuff on the field ahead of the NFL Draft.
