Huntsville Winter Comedy Carnival Benefits North Muskoka Resorts
Muskoka, Ontario (PRWEB) January 15, 2014 -- The Winter Comedy Carnival returns once again this winter to Huntsville, Ontario and the Resorts of North Muskoka couldn’t be happier. Scheduled to take place January 31 through February 2, 2014, the Huntsville Winter Comedy Carnival, formally known as Comics on the Rocks, is a fun filled annual event that combines outstanding comedic performances with fun outdoor winter sports, demonstrations and activities for the entire family. The Resorts of North Muskoka Group (http://www.north-muskoka.com), an active association of hospitality properties located in the Huntsville, Lake of Bays and Algonquin Park areas, is pleased to welcome back this popular winter event and the hundreds of visitors that come to Muskoka to take part.
According to Kim Loader, a North Muskoka innkeeper and member of the Resorts of North Muskoka group, the Huntsville Winter Comedy Carnival is an important event for businesses in Muskoka. “Past Comedy Carnivals have been very successful at attracting tourists to the region. According to the Huntsville - Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce, the event draws anywhere from 700 to 800 non-residents. Naturally, accommodation providers in North Muskoka, as well as other businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector, welcome more visitors to the area. During the Winter Comedy Carnival the public is invited to ski and shop downtown Huntsville, while enjoying live music, food vendors, a licensed “ice bar”, as well as watch the “Craftsman Challenge” where Muskoka’s best craftsmen demonstrate their skills in support of Habitat for Humanity. Other Carnival highlights include Jackrabbit ski races, free Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and igloo building demonstrations, and public ski and snowboard terrains on Main Street, River Mill Park and Burton Riglet Park. The entertainers who are headlining at this year’s Comedy Carnival are Brent Butt, best known for the CTV show Corner Gas, and Jim Belushi of Saturday Night Live and Second City fame. Brett Butt will be performing at the Algonquin Theatre the evening of Friday, February 1, 2014 and Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy will perform at Deerhurst Resort the night of Saturday February 2, 2014.
