The Students have created a YouTube Video to Spread awareness of our drive to turn donated Cell Phones into iPads for Education.

Students at Joaguin Moraga Intermediate School have started the new school year with a goal to enhance their learning in the classroom - by turning donated cell phones into iPads for class. The donated phones will then be resold by to raise the cash needed.

The goal is backed by a recent study which demonstrates that students can show learning improvement in as little as 20 minutes on the devices. Physicist Matthew Schneps [ , a founding member of the Science Education Department at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Massachusetts, says, “If supported with guidance from an instructor improvement is even more pronounced… the bottom line is that these iPads and similar tools actually do make a difference."

Jill McTaggart, English Teacher at Juaquin Moraga, sees the benefits firsthand and recruited local cell phones buyback business to help raise the funds needed to purchase new iPads and iPad Carts.

Over the Christmas break, students have been spreading the word to raise cash for iPads by asking their parents, neighbors and local businesses to donate any cell phones and electronics they no longer use.

“The students have really been amazing in spreading the word about this cell phone fundraiser.” Jill McTaggart says, “They have also created a fun video on YouTube to spread awareness.” [
