The survey, which was commissioned by IT recruitment specialists Robert Half Technology, studied the responses of 100 IT directors and found that 33% of IT directors considered project management to be the most valuable skill for IT professionals.
Alongside this, the research discovered that 39% of IT directors considered cloud computing to be the most valued skill for those in the industry, signifying the increase in businesses adopting cloud computing initiatives. According to the research, 41% of IT directors would hire staff to support their cloud computing initiatives. With this in mind, the research looked into the significance of training and education to ensure members of staff were equipped with the correct tools to support the schemes. The research found that 32% of IT directors indicated that they would invest in external training courses.
In a statement released on the company’s website, the UK Managing Director of Robert Half Technology, Phil Sheridan spoke of the importance of cloud computing initiatives and accompanying training, adding that:
“Project management and virtualization skills are also highly valued by IT directors so these are worth focusing on too.”
