Mo. Driver Awarded Damages in Excess of Offer
ST. LOUIS, MO. (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- A jury recently awarded a Mo. woman damages in the amount of $20,000 for injuries she received in a three-car collision. The accident occurred in February of 2011 on the Chesterfield Parkway in St. Louis County. According to court documents, the injured driver, Emily Hooper, suffered permanent neck and spine injuries after another driver, Marcia Geisler, struck the rear of an unnamed driver's vehicle, which then hit the rear of Hooper’s car.
As a result of the accident, Hooper received back, neck, and spine injuries, and incurred medical bills in excess of $10,000, according to court documents. In pre-trial negotiations, Hooper was offered a settlement of $2,443 by defendant Geisler’s insurance company.
“Emily suffered serious injuries that will stick with her the rest of her life,” said Hooper’s attorney, Spencer E. Farris. “I go to the mat when my clients need it and the amount offered didn’t even scratch the surface of what she deserved. I’m thankful that the jury recognized that Emily’s suffering isn’t over yet. This was a big case to Emily, and I am honored to have seen it through for her,” said Farris.
A St. Louis County jury delivered the $20,000 verdict in favor of Hooper on Dec. 3, 2013 in Judge David Lee Vincent, III’s courtroom. For more information, please refer to case number 12SL-CC01911 filed in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County (court of record).
