Lake Oswego, Ore. (PRWEB) January 06, 2014
Holiday Retirement, the largest private operator of senior living communities, today announced the appointment of Oscar Cardona to the role of chief human resources officer.
Cardona started his career in human resources at Cigna in the 1980s, leaving the company as a vice president for human resources in 1998. He then joined NIKE, serving in a variety of executive roles at its headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., and at the company’s EMEA offices in Amsterdam. Cardona returned to the United States to become a senior HR executive for NIKE in 2008.
“Holiday Retirement is in growth mode, and we require fresh ideas to improve our talent acquisition and HR management strategies,” said Kai Hsiao, president and CEO of Holiday Retirement. “Oscar has almost three decades of experience in a variety of HR roles – in two very high-growth, well-respected companies. He also brings a legal education to the table, more critical in the HR function today given the more complex labor environment in the U.S. and Canada. Oscar is a great HR partner for the executive team and our company.”
“Human resource management is becoming more complex with more being asked of it every day,” said Cardona. “I’m thrilled to bring my knowledge and expertise to Holiday Retirement and help continue to build a strong talent management and organizational program here.”
Cardona has a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, Calif., and a B.A. in political science from Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. He lives in Oregon with his family and has been active in a variety of civic organizations including the Portland Metropolitan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, his church, and a variety of youth football organizations. Cardona is also on the Board of Trustees for his alma mater, Beloit College.
