Neighborhood Credit Union Member Begins New Year with $25K Prize for Good Savings Habits
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 06, 2014 -- Neighborhood Credit Union leaders surprised Dallas resident Adam Kobos Friday morning at his home with its fifth-annual New Year’s Grand Prize – a $25,000 deposit into his Prize Savings Account.
“This is one of our favorite days of the year,” said Neighborhood Credit Union President and CEO Chet Kimmell, who, along with several senior staff members, presented Kobos with an oversized $25,000 check at his front door. “Adam is a good example of a loyal, long-time member who sees value in saving money.”
“I don’t know what to say,” said Kobos, after making sure the prize delivery was not a joke. “The timing couldn’t be better, as I’m driving a rental car right now and I can put this toward a new vehicle. And my wife and I have just been talking about some improvements we want to make to our house.”
Neighborhood Credit Union created the Prize Savings Account to encourage more people to save money, rewarding good saving habits with prize drawings throughout the year, culminating with the $25,000 Grand Prize at the start of each year.
“Starting off the New Year with a windfall or even just providing that extra incentive to encourage more Texans to start ‘paying themselves first’ is what the Prize Savings Account is all about,” explained Kimmell. “We want to help our members achieve their financial goals, now and into the future.”
“Being part of a credit union helps me achieve a lot more personally and professionally. And the service I get from Neighborhood Credit Union and the friendly faces I see there all the time … it’s a pleasure doing business with them,” said Kobos, who has been a member of the credit union for 10 years.
“It’s never too late to start saving,” said Kobos, who noted that New Year’s resolutions are a great way to start. “Set aside some money all the time because you never know when you’re going to need it.”
How the Prize Savings Account works: Neighborhood Credit Union members receive one drawing entry for every $25 monthly average balance in their Prize Savings Accounts. The greater the savings, the greater the chance a member has of winning. Members are eligible for monthly $1,000 drawings and quarterly $10,000 drawings. At the conclusion of each year, a winner is drawn for the $25,000 Grand Prize based on the average daily balance in the savings account at the close of business December 31. Past Grand Prize winners have included residents of Mesquite, Oak Cliff, Duncanville, Arlington and Sherman.
