Charitable Race Hosted by Acumen Solutions in Fall 2013 Attracts Record Number of Race Registrants and Results in a 700% Increase in Proceeds
McLean, VA (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- Every year for the past five years, the DC-metro area has looked forward to a very special event hosted by Acumen Solutions, the trusted leader in Enterprise Cloud Transformation and a leading supporter of community outreach initiatives. The Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause™ 8k and 1-Mile Fun Run, held in Arlington, VA, is an annual event that raises proceeds for local charities. The 2013 event, held on Sunday, October 13, attracted more than 3,600 runners and raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for 10 local nonprofit charities (a marked 733% increase in proceeds and 300% increase in racers since its inception in 2009).
One hundred percent of the net race proceeds are allocated to the qualifying nonprofits, and Acumen Solutions also donates the time of its employees in order to promote and execute this annual event. Over the past five years, Acumen Solutions’ innovative approach to the fundraising for this event has greatly increased race proceeds, sponsors, and registrants. In 2013, the Acumen Solutions Race for a Cause™ benefited 10 DC-metro area nonprofit organizations and racers were able to “vote” for their preferred charity when registering. The participating charities, along with Acumen Solutions, were equally responsible for promoting the race and obtaining a minimum number of registrants to select their charity in order to qualify for any race proceeds. This approach encourages a healthy “competition” among the nonprofits to promote the race to the widest audience of runners. In 2013, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington registered the most runners and American Childhood Cancer Organization was a close second.
2013 Nonprofit Beneficiaries:
American Childhood Cancer Organization
Boys and Girls Club-Alexandria-Olympic & Fairfax
For Love of Children
Greenbrier Learning Center
Ronald McDonald House
The Reading Connection
The Women’s Center
United for D.C.
Young Playwrights' Theater
501cTECH
Acumen Solutions’ goal every year is to not only raise awareness and funds for their nonprofit partners, but also to host an event that engages people and enables all participants to experience the impact to the community. The Race for a Cause™ has continued to do so, while also exponentially increasing the return on investment for its valued sponsors. Multiple sponsors have invested in the event since its inception, and continue to do so as a sign of their belief in Acumen Solutions’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. In 2013, Acumen Solutions was able to pull together an incredible list of area sponsors and would like to thank their esteemed sponsors:
