Mother Nature Reveals Spectacular Whale Show at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea
Maui, HI (PRWEB) January 06, 2014 -- The warm tropical waters of the Pacific Ocean with palm trees gently swaying is a scene that has been mesmerizing guests of Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea for nearly 25 years. Now through April 2014, a new group of underwater visitors add to the tableau—the return of hundreds of majestic 50-foot humpback whales who have traveled 3,000 miles on their migratory trip to Maui's shore to birth and nurse their calves. Four Seasons Resort Maui guests get to view the whales in what has become a yearly, highly anticipated visit, offering an up-close and personal Hawaii whale watching show.
The Resort has come up with many opportunities to help guests experience these gentle giants of the sea in their natural habitat. The concierge team can customize itineraries that include everything from catamaran sailing and kayak tours to Hawaiian outrigger canoe experiences and helicopter tours. The Resort also offers its signature therapeutic spa treatment, Wai Vari, which takes place in the ocean waters where guests can often enjoy listening to underwater whale songs. A number of whale videos taken at the Resort are available for viewing.
"Our highly talented concierge team will go the distance to customize a whale watching program to match every guest's level of adventure and interest," says Jean Claude Wietzel, general manager, Four Seasons Resort Maui. He adds that many of the experiences offered are complimentary including watching the whales from the comfort of the Resort's many viewing locations.
An Artisan Showcase, featuring an exhibition of fine art underwater photography by Dan and John Cesere takes place each Thursday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Resort. The Cesere's are artists-in-residence who will share their passion for photographing the whales. As part of a research team, they collect scientific data about the whales that is only seen underwater. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of each photograph is donated to the Keiki Kohola Project (baby whale), an environmental and preservation initiative that is also supported by Four Seasons Resort Maui.
