Rubberform Recycled Products Announces Portable Electric Cable Support Tower
Lockport, NY (PRWEB) January 07, 2014 -- Rubberform Recycled Products has announced its portable electric cable support tower, or PECST.
The new patented product is a portable, electric cable support that was engineered by safety and construction workers after they found that traditional, handmade, 2-by-4 constructed wooden cable supports were unsafe, costly and a disposal nuisance. Workplace safety practices include the practice of keeping electrical cables (welding cables, power cords, temporary electric feeds, etc.) suspended in air so that they are not in contact with the ground and are not likely to come into contact with a worker. This safety practice is advisable because of the risk that some portion of a construction person’s body may complete an electrical circuit if the contractor is standing on the ground and touches an electrical cable, or if the ground itself is in electrical contact with an electrical cable.
The Rubberform Portable Electric Cable Support Tower addresses one of OSHA's top 10 most frequently cited standards and covers the NEC - National Electrical Code Clearance Guidelines requirements.
PECST is a portable support tower for temporarily supporting one or more electrical cables above ground level at a construction site. The support tower comprises a non-conductive, recycled rubber base with a bottom that engages the ground and a top that extends upwardly with a telescoping locking tube. The base has an opening therein extending downwardly from the top toward the bottom. The base is molded of a material composed of recycled scrap tire rubber and is sufficiently wide and heavy enough that it resists being tipped over. It’s also sufficiently light enough that a single person is permitted by law to move it, just tip and roll into position. The elongated, lightweight FRP, non-conductive tubular pole contains a lower end and an upper end with the cable mount head, seven cable slots and will hold 50 pounds of cable per tower. The pole is removable from the base for disassembly and moving the tower, and has a removable cable support head affixed at the upper end of it. The support head allows for engaging and supporting one or more electrical cables above the ground, and the tower provides stable and non-conductive above-ground support for electrical cables, but is easily disassembled for movements and use at different sites.
