Burg Simpson Launches 2013-14 Colorado High School Scholarship Competition, 10 Scholarships Available, Including a Grand Prize of $2,500
Denver, CO (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 -- In an effort to teach the next generation about the importance of the jury system as the guardian of American rights and liberties, Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C. is once again offering a scholarship competition based upon written essays. This year Burg Simpson will award a total of 10 scholarships to graduating seniors to attend the college of their choice. There will be one first place prize of $2,500 and nine other scholarships of $1,000 each.
All graduating high school seniors from across Colorado are being asked to submit an original essay of 1,500 words or less that describes: how the civil jury system in the United States is being threatened; how the civil jury system protects your rights as a citizen; and the importance of preserving the civil jury system for future generations. In addition to receiving a college scholarship, winning essayists will be invited to attend a special reception for themselves, their families, and their teachers where their award will be presented and their accomplishment will be recognized. Winners will also appear at center court during half-time of the Colorado State Boys Basketball Championship Game on March 15, 2014.
Burg Simpson shareholder Seth A. Katz said, “The American judicial system is the greatest in the world. It is important that our system of justice remains protected and secure for future generations.
We first launched the Burg Simpson Scholarship Competition in 2012, and we were thrilled at the level of response. We hope that by offering these scholarships we can encourage the next generation of graduating students to find out more about our legal system.”
The competition is open to any graduating Colorado senior enrolled in an accredited school. Students will submit an application and their essay to Burg Simpson no later than February 7, 2014.
