"our goal is simple - get the information to the victims as safely and anonymously as possible, so they can learn their rights without embarrassment" Attorney Jim Ruane

Attorneys Robert Berke and James J. Ruane, along with Attorney Jay Ruane are pleased to announce the launch of, a website dedicated to helping those who have been the victims of child pornography.

All 3 attorneys have had extensive trial experience as criminal defense attorneys, with Berke and Jay Ruane having worked together as public defenders in Bridgeport in the late 1990's, and have seen the impact on victims throughout their careers. After many years of discussion, they have joined together to help the victims of child pornography obtain civil justice and provide a mechanism for those victims to get information about their rights as victims.

"One of the problems we have seen is that victims are often embarrassed and don't know where to turn - the criminal justice system is a limited help to victims and sometimes the prosecution doesn't know all the civil remedies available to child pornography victims," said Robert Berke, lead partner in the firm. "Our aim is to provide this information in an anonymous fashion, through our website, so they can view it in the safety and security of their home and learn exactly what options are available to them."

The new site, found online at will feature a blog with updated content every few days, explaining the laws and giving victims insight into how the system works, and what they can do to protect themselves from being revictimized.

"Our goal for this site is simple -- get the information to as many people as possible." Said Jim Ruane. "With hundreds of thousands of victims out there, it was amazing that nobody had put together a simple website to address their questions. We hope to fix that."

In order to help all victims of Child Pornography, the lawyers have pledged to donate 10% of their legal fees obtained in any negotiated settlement of a claim to charities that work with the adult and child victims of Child Pornography. Those organizations are encouraged to contact the law firm through their website to be added to the list of recipients.
