The restaurant industry is consistently changing, and to stay appetizingly relevant the menu and décor must remain as fresh as the ingredients. Eric Grethe understands this, as he is the proud new co-owner of Mai Thai, a shining staple amongst the Eastside eateries. Being half Thai, Grethe took over this Milwaukee Thai restaurant with a love for the food and culture, as well as a need to bring more authentic Thai food to Milwaukee.
For years, Milwaukeeans have gathered at 1230 E. Brady St. for some of the tastiest Thai in the city, however Mai Thai’s dishes are now more genuine than ever before. The introduction of the restaurant’s new head chef, a native of Thailand, has allowed for the creation of innovative and authentic recipes. The owners are encouraging all to dine at Mai Thai, as the new menu features traditional items such as larb dishes, volcano chicken, but also unexpected treats such as all you can eat cod and the red snapper fish fry, along with an all-new desert menu.
Adding to the restaurant’s recent revamping was the interior and exterior remodeling of Mai Thai. This past summer, the restaurant was opened up with facade featuring more windows to brighten up the atmosphere. There are many new and exciting aspects about Mai Thai for patrons to experience, but there’s one thing that hasn’t changed, the restaurant’s awesome $8.95 lunch special and reasonable dinner prices. Those looking for Thai food in Milwaukee have come to expect exceptional quality from Mai Thai. With new management in place, the restaurant clearly showcases that it is only improving as time goes on.
