Dentist Tariq Drabu Praises a Study Published by Researchers from the University of Cambridge
(PRWEB) January 10, 2014 -- Tariq Drabu, Dentist and highly respected owner of Langley Dental Practice in Middleton, Manchester, spoke recently about significant research published by Cambridge University researchers. News of the research team’s findings was published recently by the Dental Tribune website. The article, which can be read here, suggests that the research shows the serious damage junk food can do to oral health.
Tariq Drabu, Dentist and consultant, is widely known for his dedication to promoting good oral health. As a highly respected family dentist, and a gifted NHS dental consultant, he understands the importance of effective oral health education. He said, “It is important that patients understand that lifestyle and dietary choices can affect their health.
Excessive consumption of junk food is known to increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes. This research confirms my long held believe that a diet high in junk food is also harmful to teeth and oral health.”
Tariq Drabu, dentist to hundreds of patients of all ages, has long been committed to doing all he can to help his clients improve their oral health. He continued by saying, “Here at Langley, my staff and I do all we can to provide patients with the information and guidance about good oral hygiene and dental care. This includes advice on healthy diets, and information about alcohol consumption and smoking, all in relation to oral health. My colleagues and I feel it is important to provide all the advice we are able to, for patients who require it.”
The research confirms that junk food contains saturated fats, already associated with the development of obesity, diabetes and heart disease. However, these types of foods also contain large quantities of sugar which can be damaging to teeth and gums. Tariq Drabu, dentist, continued, “Individuals who are already suffering ill health as a result of a high fat diet, may also be more susceptible to other diseases, including oral disease. The research done by Cambridge University is extremely important and I applaud them for their diligent and thorough work.”
Tariq Drabu is a dentist and teacher to postgraduate students. After more than 25 years dedicated service in the dental profession, he understands the importance of new medical research. He said, “The research indicates that damage to oral health as a result of junk food could also further increase the risk of heart disease. Soft drinks, cakes, desserts and confectionary are all high in sugar so they are instrumental in exacerbating gum disease and other chronic mouth infections. I have long believed that education is the key to improving public health. This research is an essential part of this process.”
Tariq Drabu, the leading dentist closed by saying, “The research team from Cambridge University have suggested that the reduction of sugar consumption is an extremely important target for health improvement. I hope the policy makers take note of these excellent research findings, and that they address the problems highlighted by taking the team’s recommendations on board. It has been discussed for a number of years, but this may be the time to consider increasing the price of certain junk foods that are high in sugars and saturated fats.”
