Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) January 08, 2014
Backupify, the leading provider of cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery solutions for Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, today announced the company achieved record-breaking growth in 2013 driven by substantial product innovation and personnel investments. The company is currently backing up more than half a million users from over 7,000 domains, translating into more than one and a half petabytes of data under management. Based on the current pace of growth, Backupify expects to back up one million Google Apps users by the end of the first quarter in 2014.
“Backupify had a huge 2013 with massive growth, but we’re already looking ahead to an even bigger year for the company and our customers in 2014,” said Rob May, CEO, Backupify. “Cloud is no longer a buzzword but rather the way businesses operate and the cloud-to-cloud backup market is heating up. As the clear leader in this space, we plan to continue building on this momentum to deliver the solutions companies rely on to safely and securely control their data.”
Supporting customer choice, Backupify announced Bring Your Own Storage in 2013, giving customers options when it comes to storing a secure, second copy of their data.
Additionally, Backupify’s Developer Platform was released this year. The platform, with a set of open APIs, is designed to extend cloud-to-cloud backup protection to other SaaS applications.
Sales and Marketing Expansion
Key hires were made to the marketing and sales team in 2013, setting the stage for additional growth into next year and beyond. On the marketing side, John Bigay was brought on board as Backupify’s Chief Marketing Officer. Bigay comes to Backupify with more than 17 years of marketing experience, helping a range of companies, from small, technology startups to large consumer brands, grow their business.
Chris Essler was appointed Backupify’s Director of Sales in 2013 and under Essler, the sales team has already doubled. Essler brings more than 10 years of sales leadership experience at high growth software companies to his role at Backupify.
