A Reminder to Canadians to Make One Very Important Healthy Resolution This Year
Burlington, Ontario (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- As 2014 starts rolling, many Canadians will be hitting the gym, choosing a salad over French fries and avoiding their stress triggers in an attempt to fulfill their New Year’s resolution to live healthier. Life Science Nutritionals (LSN) wants to remind Canadians to add to the list taking their daily vitamins!
While people tend to focus on the more obvious aspects of health – exercising more, eating less and quitting the bad habits – the simple ritual of taking daily vitamin supplements is often forgotten. Surprising considering many Canadians over the age of 19 have a vitamin deficiency of some sort.
“Eating a balanced diet is the best approach to getting what our bodies need,” says LSN Founder and CEO Stuart Lowther who has a Masters Degree in Nutrition and Human Metabolism and is a published research scientist in health and nutrition. “But it doesn’t guarantee that you will get the full spectrum of nutrients you need as it’s difficult to be that consistent in our healthy eating habits.”
The most common vitamin deficiencies include Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Omega 3, Calcium, and Fibre, which is why health experts recommend at the very minimum adults add a high quality multi vitamin. Follow up with supplements that address specific deficiencies.
“The best place to start your new vitamin regime is with a good multi vitamin designed for your specific nutritional needs,” says Lowther who recently added a Multi-Vitamin for Men and a Multi-Vitamin for Women to the Adult Essentials gummy vitamin line. “Then you need to look at your personal habits and supplement to fill any nutritional gaps.”
Instead of simply swearing off junk food and eating your veggies, add heart healthy Omega 3 fish oil supplements and fibre to your daily diet. Omega 3 plays an important role in cardiovascular health, by lowering blood pressure, and decreasing triglyceride production while fibre lowers cholesterol and controls blood sugar levels.
Calcium and Vitamin D are most known for working together to promote strong teeth and bones, but individually, each has other health benefits. Calcium helps with blood clotting, nerve transmission and muscle contraction. Vitamin D has been linked to the prevention and/or treatment of certain cancers, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.
“When deciding which healthy resolutions to make this year, remember this: the best vitamins are the ones you actually enjoy taking, which is why even our adult products are in the same great tasting, chewable gummy form as our original IronKids vitamins!”
